Hi all-- Every now and then i have to share with you the pure aesthetic pleasure of watching gorgeous androgynous young men. If you read my books you know that i almost always have one "pretty boy" among my heroes. These boys are younger than my boys but they share that powerful beauty of both sexes that androgyny embraces. This video is really long (and i'm only showing you half of it) but pick a spot and take a look. Even if you like your guys hairy and alpha, it's hard to not appreciate these beautiful faces. Enjoy.

Wow, Tara, thank you! I find this kind of beauty absolutely mesmerizing. I just wish these young men (most of them, anyway) weren't so twig-thin. Anorexia is NOT erotic.

I'm 17 and unfortunately, regardless of how conscious i am of whether or not its a societal beauty standard that's unhealthy, being "twig-thin" is high on the list of what is attractive in both sexes. So much so for males that i cannot imagine being attracted to anyone that isn't.
DeleteHi Anonymous-- Thank you for sharing those thoughts. Have you read any romance novels, gay or straight? Generally the men are strong and healthy, sometimes really big. My heroes tend to be slender but never stick thin. The tide is turning in the appearance race! People with enough flesh to be healthy are now considered beautiful. I find my eyes are changing. I see women i might once have considered beautiful and i now see them as too thin.Maybe you can too. You're the hero or heroine of your own story. Be who you want to be. : )

I do recall reading an interview with Andrej Pejic in which he talked about the weight he had to lose so he'd more closely resemble a female runway model. It made me cringe. I thought, Sheesh, why can't a sublimely gorgeous face sit atop a young man's body? Isn't androgyny about that kind of juxtaposition?

They were very beautiful. Heck, most women would kill for those faces. I loved the pic of the three guys together near the end. Those faces were downright gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Tara. Almost all of those pics are so heartwrenchingly beautiful. But, I agree about the scarecrow thin look being very disturbing and not in a good way. When will our society stop telling us that twigs are sexy and when will people stop listening??
